Values of 1 represent uncultivated histosol and values of 2 represent cultivated histosol. Uncultivated hitosols are those pixels not used for agricultural purposes. Cultivaed histosol pixels are those pixels that are determined to be used for agricultural purposes. Histosols (minus folists for this dataset) have a high content of organic matter and no permafrost. Most are saturated year round, but a few are freely drained. Histosols are commonly called bogs, moors, peats, or mucks.
